Emanuele Olivetti gave two talks during his visit to the University of Maastricht: "Two-Sample Tests vs. Decoding" and "Hypothesis Testing with Classifiers".

02/06/2013

The purpose of this visit is to present some recent work of Emanuele Olivetti on hypothesis testing in the context of decoding problems.
The visit is also meant to start a collaboration on these topics with Elia Formisano and Giancarlo Valente.

This paper presents a new multimodal database and associated results for characterization of affect (valence, arousal and dominance) using the Magnetoencephalogram (MEG) brain signal and peripheral physiological signals (horizontal EOG, ECG, trapezius EMG). The authors attempt single-trial classification of affect in movie and music video clips employing emotional responses extracted from eighteen participants.

Krzysztof Gorgolewski is a postdoctoral fellow at Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences of Leipzig, Germany. During his visit at NILab he delivered a tutorial on Nipype, a python library providing a uniform interface to existing neuroimaging softwares. He was also involved in developing new Nipype modules with several NILab members. He finally gave a seminar about inference with probabilistic ROIs, sharing statistical maps and the concept of data papers.
