Paolo Avesani received his doctoral degree in Information Science from the University of Milan in 1988. Since 1989 he has been a research scientist in the Automated Reasoning System division at IRST. On 2001 he became the head of a group on Adaptive Systems. He had experience of many european projects both in ESPRIT (Charade, Carica, Now) and Interreg (Alpine Space) EU programmes. Since 2008 he is leading NILab, a Neuroinformatics Laboratory raised as a joint initiative of Fondazione Bruno Kessler and the Center for Mind/Brain Sciences of the University of Trento. He is a member of ACM and IEEE.
